Free In-Person Tax Preparation

In partnership with MFS CASH Oregon

Tax season is here, and Trailhead Credit Union is proud to partner with MFS CASH Oregon to provide free, high-quality tax preparation services for our community.

As part of our commitment to your financial well-being, our Old Town branch will serve as an official tax prep site this season. Whether you need help navigating new tax laws or simply want to ensure you’re getting your full refund, IRS-certified volunteers are here to help—at no cost to you.

Do I Qualify?

To use this free service, your household must meet the following criteria:

  • Your annual household income is below $69,000.
  • You do not have complex tax situations, such as rental property income, cryptocurrency sales, or business expenses exceeding $50,000.
  • The volunteers can assist with Federal and Oregon state returns only.

How it Works

This service is available by appointment only to qualifying Oregonians.

  • Location: Trailhead Credit Union, 221 NW Second Ave., Portland, OR 97209
  • Dates: February 5 – April 9
  • Hours: Thursdays, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
  • Language Support: English (Virtual Interpreter Services are available for most other languages).

What to Bring

To ensure your appointment goes smoothly, please bring the following:

  1. Identification: Government picture ID and Social Security cards (or ITINs) for everyone listed on the return.
  2. Income Documents: W-2s, 1099s, Social Security statements, etc.
  3. Health Insurance: Form 1095-A if you have health insurance through the marketplace.
  4. Banking Info: A voided check or your routing and account numbers for direct deposit of your refund.
  5. Last Year’s Return: A copy of your 2024 tax return (if available).

Note: If you are filing jointly, both spouses must be present at the appointment.
